upgrade jammy 22.04 to kinetic 22.10 now no out side internet

upgrade jammy 22.04 to kinetic 22.10 now no out side internet. I can reach the other computer on my network just no outside stuff like updates or web cites.

If you run

echo "nameserver 8.8.8.8" | sudo tee -a /etc/resolv.conf > /dev/null

Then rerun the apt command, does it work OK?

this is a temporary fix

echo "nameserver 8.8.8.8" | sudo tee -a /etc/resolv.conf > /dev/null

have to reuse the above command after restart to get things working again.

Then your system isn't getting DNS settings. When you connect to the VPN you get DNS settings from that and so it works. If you set your DNS settings manually in network manager then you'll be OK. Alternatively you can add them to the resolveconf "head" file and it'll be added that way
