Will there or will there not be an update for Jaunty in the PPA package repositories for Gyachi for 1.2.4? It's a shame to have to re-install Linux just to have the ability to use Yahoo with webcam support. I'm using a EEEbuntu distro that's Jaunty based and I'm waiting for the EEEbuntu 4.0 that's still in beta at the moment which is not based on ubuntu from what I understand. I tried compling Gyachi 1.2.4 from sourceforge and could not get it to work. Just for the heck of it I tried installing gyachi 1.2.4 for karmic and of course that also didn't work. Thanks for all your help.
Okay, I've returned to trying Gyachi out after several years, hoping that the development would bring it somewhat farther along. I must say so far I like what I see, but I also want to report a bug.
In Gyachi Voice Chat (in a room) I am unable to hear anything. When I attempt to click 'off' it freezes the voice chat window completely and I have to force it to close/terminate. Also, the 'talk' button is completely greyed out. I've tried switching from Alsa to Pulseaudio with no luck, tried restarting gyachi between switches, no luck, and I've tried looking through debug logs and can see no errors that would explain this (even after checking the log debug checkbox).
I'm currently on Jaunty running 2.6.28-11-generic kernel.
What am I missing here?
Thanks in advance for your help,
Tal
Alright, I figured out how to get around this issue.
The issue with no sound in gyachi (and freezing of the gyachi-voice) client is solved by actually being able to connect to one of the correct voice servers. The ones in the list apparently are incorrect. The ones listed in the old gyach-e website appear to work however. For ease of configuration, I'll c/p it. You need to go into ~/.yahoo/gyach/gyvoicerc and change the default voice server to one of the following (as well as ensuring that you have the gyachi-voice codecs installed).
Hope this helps someone else.Code:Reference: List of Known Y! Alright, next problem is when I try to run webcam. The window pops up, freezes there for a sec then closes down. The cam's little light comes on at the same time and goes off when the window goes down. Again checked debug log and got nothing at all whatsoever about the cam (wondering what exactly the debug function in gyachi debugs if it's not the stuff it's trying to do). Checked lsusb and the cam shows up there correctly (cheap little webcam I had in a box). And I checked dmesg on the off chance that it might show something. Found this:
gyachi-upload[4627]: segfault at 4b7c3e49 ip b789a302 sp bfc971f0 error 4 in libgobject-2.0.so.0.2000.1[b7871000+3c000]
Gonna try and research that but I'm not holding my breath. System specs still the same as before.

well...I /thought/ I had voicechat fixed. Worked for a little while then started doing the same thing again, so I'm not sure exactly what's causing it.
And webcam still isn't working but I'm thinking it's this old cam.
Tal
has the webcam worked in other applications, recently?
I am really happy with Gyachi , after waiting long time at last its working now . But i have one issue , I can send my webcam and others can view it also . But if i am trying to watch others webcam nothing happening . I am using https://launchpad.net/~baudm/+archive/ppa/+packages this one .
Any one know why its happening like this ?? . Do I need to enable something ??
Thanks

loell - I figured out the problem with the webcam. It was a problem with the webcam itself.
The Voice Chat in a chatroom still is /really/ hit & miss. 90% of the time it doesn't work right...won't connect up or load the list or anything. Only about 1 time out of every 15 or 20 times that I try to connect to a voicechat does it actually work, but it only works for a few minutes and then stops. So I'm not sure what's going on there.
I'm hoping that these issues can be resolved because...well...I hate to be defeated by any piece of software.
